The Operation
The day before the scheduled surgery, I arrived at the hospital in the morning and was shown my room. The following morning I changed into hospital clothes, and received an IV. I was then transferred to the operating room and prepared for anesthesia. The doctor arrived and once again confirmed that he would not use a mesh right before I was anesthetized.
After the surgery, I was moved back to my room. However, my wife later informed me that during the operation, the doctor had paused and left the operating room to tell her that a mesh would be necessary. Given that I was already under anesthesia and the surgery was underway, she had no choice but to agree.
Shortly after waking up, I experienced severe pain, accompanied by shaking. The nurse offered a pain medication with an additional cost of 500 NT$, which I accepted. This medication significantly relieved the pain, but I don't know what it was.
Later, the doctor visited me and apologized for using the mesh. The doctor seemed satisfied with the surgical outcome.
The next day, when I went to the bathroom, I felt a sudden pain in my right testicle when sitting down. I quickly stood up and didn't notice any immediate issues. However, I was unable to have a bowel movement, so I was given medication to help.
A few days after the surgery, my testicle began to swell, which I noticed when looking in the mirror. I reported this to the nurse, and she said she would inform the doctor. Later, another nurse came to examine me and said the doctor would be in shortly. The doctor examined me and assured me that the swelling was normal, demonstrating the size with his hands, about the size of a grapefruit.
At this point, I was quite uncomfortable in the hospital bed (being over 6 feet tall, the beds were too short), and I was eager to go home. I was discharged from the hospital on Friday, the 22nd.
The pain in my testicle had become so intense that standing was nearly impossible, and I experienced a sharp, pinching sensation. When lying down, the pain was significantly reduced. I contemplated requesting a wheelchair but decided I could manage. I was able to walk to the car with some difficulty and lay down in the backseat until we arrived home.
The medication I was taking while hospitalized was: acetaMINOPHEN(LACTAM) 500mg, magnesium OXIDE 250mg, OMEZOL (Omeprazole) 20mg, MOPRIDE 5MG, SOLAXIN 200mg

At this point, I had no reason to suspect that there was a more serious underlying issue. I had conducted online research while lying in bed and learned that testicular swelling is not uncommon.
