Letter Of Complaint

Seeing my distress, my wife decided to assist me in filling out the online complaint form for Kuang Tien Hospital. The content of the complaint message is as follows:

"I am writing to complain about the hernia surgery performed on me on December 18, 2023.

Prior to the surgery, we had a clear discussion and agreed to proceed with an open surgery without the use of mesh, to avoid the potential complications associated with mesh, such as chronic pain, testicular atrophy, and circulatory problems. To my great disappointment, during the surgery, the doctor informed my wife, who was waiting outside, that the use of mesh reinforcement was necessary. Due to the circumstances of the surgery being in progress, my wife reluctantly agreed. The surgery lasted over 3 hours. Despite the doctor's advice to be admitted the day before, I did not undergo any pre-operative scans to confirm the hernia condition. I was hospitalized for 5 days after the surgery, during which I reported testicular redness to the doctor, but was told it was a normal phenomenon.

Before the surgery, my hernia only caused mild discomfort when sitting, and there was some pressure in the inguinal area. This surgery, which was originally intended to improve my quality of life, has had a severe impact. Now, I experience pain and numbness in the hernia area both when standing and sitting. Additionally, I suffer from pain in the spermatic cord and groin, and most distressingly, the placement of the hernia mesh or traction of the spermatic cord has resulted in testicular atrophy. It is unlikely that my testicular function will recover, and this is a life-altering complication. These physical problems are accompanied by significant psychological distress, including depression, sleep disturbances, loss of appetite, and decreased libido. I am extremely disheartened and depressed by this surgery, and feel a sense of despair about my life.

Six months have passed since the surgery, and the pain persists, causing inflammation in my two normal testicles. I have consulted with three other urologists, but unfortunately, they have offered little hope for improvement, prescribing only pain medication and stating that I may need to live with these problems and take medication for the rest of my life."

Thoughts
I was unsure if the hospital would even respond to the online complaint, as I wasn't certain if they took such submissions seriously.
